Watch 2 YouTube Dance videos and write about them.

REQUIREMENTS FOR ASSIGNMENT

– Watch the entire concert.
– Identify both the name of the dance (either italicized or placed in quotation marks) and the choreographer.
– They must be properly identified by title and choreographer,
– You paper must have an opening paragraph including a thesis statement that explains your main point, and a conclusion which reiterated your main point and wraps things up.
– As you discuss each dance, make sure to include all of the elements of theatre in your remarks.
These are:
the space (rain room, mainstage in a proscenium theatre, outdoors ex: salt flats, etc).
the choreography including intent/concept/reason behind the dance
the performances
costuming
lighting (may be natural)
special effects (if any)
sets or set pieces (the aerial silks are considered a set piece; furniture is also)
props
your reaction/response to all of the above
Your paper should adhere to the WRITING REQUIREMENTS as explained in the syllabus
– This paper is YOUR OPINION. You must include each element of theatre in your remarks. If you were left unaffected by a dance, or offended, or absolutely enthralled, go ahead and write it.
– SUBSTANTIATE YOUR OPINIONS WITH REASONS. Tell WHY you responded that way. This is imperative–opinion doesn’t exist in a vacuum. If  you felt the dance somehow did not live up to its early promise, that too much unison spoiled it for you, or that the movement didn’t fit the overall abilities of the dancers, EXPLAIN.
–  Do not use quoted materials in your critique from any source, including online reviews of individual dances.
