In this assignment, you are to look for an example of a Cause Related Marketing initiative being employed by your chosen global hospitality company. Please do not use an initiative that we have already discussed in the Module. Research and find one if you can from your company. Look at some of the same locations as you did when you researched for your Case Study (it may even be in your case study!). If you don’t find an example for your company, look at your competitors and borrow theirs. Then, complete the following worksheet.

For this course reflection, watch the video below, which was created shortly after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Then, answer the following questions. (Don’t forget the word minimum!)


1. Briefly summarize the war in Ukraine. What factors led to this war?

2. Review Kaldor’s four-dimensional framework of wars on pages 307-308. Would Kaldor have characterized the war in Ukraine as a an old war, new war, or having aspects of both? Explain your answer.

3. What role, if any, do you think other countries (like the US) and intergovernmental organizations (like NATO) should have in this conflict? Explain your answer.


In more than one of our stories, the concept of an interview is central to hearing our protagonist’s stories. In Woman at Point Zero, Firdaus is interviewed and that’s how we, the readers, are introduced to her harrowing and heartbreaking story.

Really, the purpose of this class is to open everyone up to be able to engage women’s stories no matter where we may find them. As a result, you will be taxed with conducting your own interview.

You may interview ANY woman you know with the purpose of sharing a part of her story. This can be a story of immigration, the story of how she managed to get a job or pick a major, how she has navigated health issues, or even the story of your birth (I know plenty of you will ask your moms). Really, the possibilities are endless! Just make sure you engage her with questions that reflect the themes of the class in addition to letting her tell her story. For example, if you’re telling the story of your mom getting married, interspersed with questions of how she felt about her big day, you may ask how her identity as a woman drove her to understand the ceremony. You can ask that in a series of questions (‘how did being a woman make you think about how you felt you should act or who you should invite?’ ‘did being a woman influence you considering to change your name’ ‘how are marriages conducted traditionally in your culture’ ‘what does tradition mean to you for marriage’ etc etc) as long as they engage with what we’ve learned in the class so far.

The format is as follows (think about it as an essay with an intro, body, and conclusion, just that the body is the interview):

Introductory paragraph (200-500 words): Introduce the woman you are interviewing. Who is she? Why are you interviewing her? Is there any background we should know before delving into the story? What story are you choosing to interview her about and why?

The interview (1-3 pages, with a space between each interview and question ex: Interviewer: “Question” (press enter) Interviewee: “Answer” (press enter). You may paraphrase long responses from the interviewee or cut out irrelevant anecdotes or vocal pauses like “hm” or “ah.” Here are some tips for preparing for an interview.

Conclusion (200-500 words): Summarize the main takeaways from the interview. Do a few sentence analysis that ties some of what you learned from the interview to something you have also learned from the class. Conclude the paper.
